What book should I read?

I haven't read a book in ages and I just feel like reading all of a sudden. I want a good book that will suit me and that will keep my interest. I am eighteen and female and I am interested in realistic stories. I like romance and such, but I really hate vampire stories. I want a really good one that will make me feel good. Also, I want a book that I can find easily like at Barns %26amp; Noble or ebay.com or something. What book should I read?
I am The Messenger - Markus Zusak
for a really good historical adventure novel, like pirates and storms at sea and a 16 year old girl who learns a lot about herself and how to stand on her own two feet, read "natalie's good fortune." you can get it on amazon, or get a better deal at lulu.com. i got a copy through the author's website (which kind of took me to lulu, but it was easier to pick the format i wanted.) this is my newest fave story, and there's a second book out, and a third on the way. fun stuff. no vampires, no zombies, no magic, lots of action and a little romance. What book should I read?
Not sure if these work, but...

Series books/novels

"Deadly Little Secret" by Laurie Faria Stolarz (Touch series)

"Blue is for Nighmares" by Laurie Faria Stolarz (Blue Is for Nightmares series)

"Evermore" by Alyson Noel (the Immortals series)

-Warning: It kinda sounds a little like the "Twilight" series at first, and the next book isn't really as good, I've heard the series gets worse by each book, but it was decent. I'd still recommend it.

"Blue Bloods" by Melissa de la Cruz (Blue Bloods series)

-It IS a vampire series, but personally, I don't think they're much like vampires at all, really, more like supernatural/gifted or something of the sort. Pretty decent, I think.

"Shiver" by Maggie Stiefvater (The Wolves of Mercy Falls series)

-There is only one book out currently, but a second one is planned.

"City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare (Mortal Instruments series)
