What are some history books about America after 1865?

I'm taking a history class next semester and it's strictly about America after 1865. Are there any text books or even non fiction books in places like Joe Beth or Barns and Noble?((preferably cheapish.lol)) I'd like to get a little bit of an understanding of what i'll be learning about so im not so lost when I start this class. Thanks in advance! :)
